Layout of a short essay - LaTeX vs. OpenOffice

I had to write a short essay for my TOEFL preparation course. Of course, I started Kile and wrote my essay with LaTeX. It just seemed natural to me. Back to the course I've recognized that my essay was the most beautiful of all concerning the layout.

I was just curious and exported the essay to PDF; once with LaTeX and once with OpenOffice. The results are shown in the pictures. Thumbnails are sufficient because the content does not really matter. The left one is made with LaTeX, the right one with OpenOffice.
